Cloud is becoming more commonplace but there are still misconceptions. Many of these center around security. Here are the things you need to know from your CSP.
Is the Cloud secure? Yes! The Cloud is a safe place for your data. In 2015, even the FBI began the move to virtual desktops and many large healthcare facilities are now making the move. Ask about the data center where the CSP stores the servers that run your desktops. What security certifications have they earned?
Who owns the data? You are the sole owner of all data and files on your virtual desktop. The information may reside on the CPS’s equipment but they should never claim any ownership to your information.
Do they have a Disaster Recovery plan in place? In the event of a disaster, you should continue to have access to all of your business necessary data. Ask your CSP how they will ensure your business continuity. What failover methods do they have in place to prevent interruption in your service? They should keep you well informed should any issues arise.
Once you have decided that you are ready for a Cloud move, it is time to discuss security with your CSP. They should be able to provide you with certifications and compliances that they and their data centers hold. Now that you have been assured that your data will be safe, it is time to ask about customization.
