Technology is a real and present part of our everyday lives. We don’t often think of the history behind technology. Things that are possible today in the computer world will open the door for unimaginable advances in the future. Let’s take this time to look back on things that occurred this month in Tech History.
April 1 – If you are one of the millions of devout Apple users, this day in history is what made all or your favorite gadgets possible. On April 1, 1976, Apple Computer Company was incorporated by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak.
April 25 – Yahoo! search engine aired its first television commercial during Late Night with David Letterman, Saturday Night Live, and Star Trek in 1996. This was one of the earliest examples of the internet crossing over into the mainstream. “Do you Yahoo?”
April 30 – In 1993, Tim Berners-Lee urged the directors of CERN to release the source code of his World Wide Web protocol into public domain. This decision to make the World Wide Web free to everyone is considered by some to be the most important moment in the history of the internet. Some mark this as the birth of the Web.
As I type this inside a virtual desktop, I am amazed at how far things have come. Technology will continue to advance at lightening speed and give us things that we have never dreamed possible.
